You’re Working Too Much—Fix It With These 10 Moves

The first month of 2025 is officially over.

It doesn’t matter if you crushed it or crashed it—there are 11 months left to go.

In the grand scheme of running a business, one month—even one year—is minuscule. You’re likely going to be in business for 25+ years. Zoom out. Think in years, not months.

It’s Sunday morning, and I’m writing to you with urgency—because time is flying, and if you aren’t more intentional about working towards freedom, you’ll wake up one day realizing you’ve spent your entire career chasing a white rabbit you’ll never catch.

Most entrepreneurs never figure this out. They grind endlessly, convincing themselves that just a little more effort, a little more sacrifice, and a little more work will finally get them “there.”

But where is “there” exactly?

I don’t want you working all the time.
You don’t want to be working all the time.
And neither do the people who matter most to you.

Yes, your work can be meaningful—but here’s the truth.

Your most fulfilling work happens when you want to do it, not when you have to.

And you only reach that point once you’ve earned the freedom to work on your terms—without worrying about putting bread on the table.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m committed to working smarter than the average entrepreneur, not just harder.

I’m not Elon Musk.
I’m not Hormozi.
And neither are you.

Let’s be real—business isn’t an even playing field. Just like bodybuilding, where genetics determined who won, in business, it’s timing, luck, and relentless execution that stack the odds.

I’m not building the next Tesla.
I’m not going to stumble into an untapped high-ticket space like Hormozi did back when no one was playing that game.

Those windows are closed so stop comparing yourself to the best in the world who had odds stacked in their favour before they began.

I’m bullish AF on building a small, mighty, hyper-profitable machine that lets me do whatever the hell I want in life.

Less stress. More money. More time.

That’s the game I’m playing.

That’s the game I want to play.

And if you want the same, then you need to start working differently.

You need to start optimizing your time, your energy, and your decision-making so your business works for you—not the other way around.

Because if you don’t, you’ll spend the next 10 years running full speed on a treadmill… only to look up and realize you haven’t moved.

Freedom isn’t something you “hope” for. You have to design it.

Right now, my business is generating millions in profit while I work ~18–21 hours a week.

That’s up slightly from last year’s 11-hour workweek because I was taking some time out, meddling in investments, spending time with my family, and having fun.

Quick heads up, this year I’m launching a private mastermind and workshop to help entrepreneurs earning 500K–5M streamline their businesses, maximize their profits, and live on their own terms. More about this opportunity at the bottom of this email.

Anyway, let’s get stuck in. I want to share 10 things I’ve done to free up my time, increase my energy, and scale my business—without sacrificing my life. Pay attention and implement – these moves work.

1. Ditch Limiting Beliefs That Drain Energy

If your mind is stuck on something, it’s stealing energy from your business.

  • If there’s someone you’re thinking about too much…

  • If there’s a scenario you keep ruminating on…

  • If there’s something you’re obsessing over or trying to control…

It’s costing you focus, and where energy goes, attention flows.

I see so many entrepreneurs take their eyes off their business because they’re too distracted by unhealed chaos in their personal life.

You need to get ruthlessly good at coaching yourself, healing yourself, and extracting the lessons from your chaos—then moving the fuck on.

Your business doesn’t stop while you overthink.

Don’t give your power away to people and situations you can’t control.

2. Make More Decisions (Faster)

Indecision = Overwhelm = Inaction + Pity Party

Write down three decisions you need to make this week and execute.

Decisions create feedback.

Feedback creates momentum.

3. Train Your Team, Not Just Your Clients

Behind every great business is great leadership and a great team.

Most entrepreneurs overload their teams instead of empowering them.
Spend more time training your team than you do your clients.

4. Interview Your Best Clients

Go into your client payment software, find your top three clients, and interview them.

What do they love? What’s missing? What could be better?

This will save you hours of guessing what to improve.

5. Hire a Mentor Who Intimidates You

The fastest way to grow is to learn from other people’s mistakes. The biggest mistake? Waiting too long to invest in the right mentor.

I personally made that mistake.

There was someone I deeply respected who I wanted to mentor me last year. I held off.

Yesterday, I got an email saying they’ve passed away. That opportunity is gone forever.

If there’s someone you know you need to learn from, don’t wait.

FYI, the cheat code to finding a great mentor is simple: Are they worth modeling?

If the answer is a yes. Hire them.

6. Plan Your Day the Night Before

If you’re waiting until morning to figure out what to do, you’re already behind.

If you haven’t planned your Monday yet, do it right now.

7. Train Every Day (In a Way That Fuels You)

Exercise isn’t just about looking good—it’s about function and survival.

Do something that builds strength, resilience, and energy.

The right training gives energy. The wrong training drains it.

My new punch bag arrived this week and I can't express how much fun, function and uplift it gives me. Find a training modality that serves you.

8. Hire Someone Who’s Smarter Than You

Look at your team. Is anyone on it smarter than you?

If not, you’ve created a cap on your business growth.

Hiring someone who intimidates you with their skillset and level of execution in a specific area forces you to raise your standards and think bigger.

9. Kill One-on-One Communication

Meetings, phone calls, “quick chats”—all steal your time.
90% of decisions can be made via audio note or text.

Ask yourself:

  • What needs to be decided?

  • Why hasn’t it been decided yet?

I only do one-on-one calls when I want to build a relationship or get a gut feel for someone.
For everything else, I stick to 80% async, 20% real-time.

10. Get in the Right Rooms with the Right People

Your network = your speed.

When you’re surrounded by people playing a bigger game than you, you think bigger.

  • It opens up inspiration that wouldn't have existed otherwise.

  • It connects you to people who can introduce you to team members, resources, and deals.

  • It speeds up your growth and makes you more money—faster.

Money is time. Time is money. A high-value network collapses timeframes and gives you back more freedom, efficiency, and effectiveness.

I’ve always believed in this, which is why I’m opening up a 20-person mastermind at my house in the next few months.

I’ve already got seven spots taken—and I haven’t even advertised it yet.

This isn’t going to be a standard business mastermind. It’s a testing ground where I’m sharing:

  • How I think about business.

  • The frameworks that have helped me scale.

  • How I make high-level strategic decisions in real-time.

And I’ll make a bold statement:

The net profit my business generates—compared to the hours I work—is abnormal.

I’m not running a bloated, complicated company. My business completely crushes large corporates that do way more revenue but are stuck in chaos and inefficiency.

I’m all about small and mighty.

There’s an art and science to scaling profitably, buying assets, and creating serious wealth and freedom in your early 30s.

I want to unpack all of this with the right people in the right room.

If you’re between 500k-5M a year and would value learning from me what are the top #3 things you’d love to gain from the experience. FYI, I personally read every email.

Bottom line:

Scaling isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing less of the right things.

These 10 moves will free up time, increase your energy, and make your business infinitely more enjoyable to run.

Pick one, implement it today, and see the difference.

Until next week!
Phil
