The 7 Deadly Sins Holding You Back

Read time — 4 min read

Every entrepreneur thinks they’re “different.”

But the truth is, the game punishes you the same way it punishes everyone else.

There are 7 deadly sins that will kill you no matter what level you’re at.

I’ve lived through every one of them.

The only difference between those who grow and those who stay stuck is this: they do something about them.

At Expansion on September 5th, we’re going to fix every single one, no matter what industry you’re in.

Ignore them, and your business dies.

1. Lack of Clairty

When you don’t know what to focus on, you procrastinate, chase distractions, and drift. This creates space for competitors to get ahead while you’re still thinking about what to do.

What it cost me: massive procrastination, lost opportunities, and watching others start things I delayed. The window shut before I even began.

2. Making decisions out of FEAR

Fear keeps you from making bold moves, whether it’s hiring, advertising, or changing direction. It feels safer to wait, but the cost of waiting is huge.

What it cost me: inaction, and the far bigger fear of dealing with the consequences of being too late. It always cost me more time, energy, and effort, which fueled an even deeper cycle of fear.

3. Weak Marketing

If people don’t know you exist, they can’t buy from you. Weak marketing means you’re invisible while less talented competitors thrive.

What it cost me: lost visibility, lost opportunities, and lost customers who went to competitors and didn’t even get a great service. One of my biggest regrets is not spending enough money on advertising early. Now ad costs are four to five times higher. If you don’t know how to market, you’re stuck.

4. Chief of Everything (COE)

Doing everything yourself feels noble, but the bigger the business grows, the heavier the weight. You become the bottleneck.

What it cost me: freedom, health, peace of mind. More growth only meant more stress when everything rested on me.

5. Wrong Team

Keeping the wrong people in the wrong seats is one of the most expensive mistakes you can make. Their indecision, inaction, and lack of skill will hold you back for years.

What it cost me: fortune in wasted salaries, mistakes, and missed opportunities. The wrong people nearly sank my business at times.

6. Leadership Gaps

It’s not enough to hire, you have to lead. Without standards and accountability, your team drifts and you over-rely on the wrong players.

What it cost me: respect, culture, and momentum. I ended up carrying the weight of their indecision, and paying the price for their lack of execution.

7. Undercharging

Pricing yourself like everyone else keeps you trapped. When you undercharge, you rob yourself of wealth, freedom, and the ability to reinvest in growth.

What it cost me: money and time. Time is money, and by charging too little I delayed financial freedom and slowed growth.

Every entrepreneur either falls into these traps or fights their way out of them. At Expansion, we’re going to dismantle each one and rebuild your business on stronger foundations: profit, authority, and freedom.
