Lessons on marketing yourself online in 2025

If you aren’t marketing yourself properly in 2025, your business will die.

No leads. No sales. No customers. Just stress.

This is the number one challenge for most business owners I meet. They’re great at what they do. But they suck at showing the world. That means someone less qualified, but louder, is winning the market.

Here’s why it’s hard:

  • The marketplace is noisier than ever

  • People’s attention spans are shorter than ever

  • You’ve seen the stupid antics people get up to online, and you want no part in it

Good. Neither do I.

I’m not an influencer. But we just hit 400K net profit last month. I’ve built a multi-million pound business without millions of followers. So I know a thing or two about sales and visibility online.

Here are some lessons you need to know:

1. Stop chasing virality
Views, likes, and followers don’t mean sales. If the wrong people are watching, you're not winning.

2. Optimize for DM inquiries
Everything you post should drive real conversations with real buyers. Not dopamine hits.

3. Stop learning from broke influencers
Most of them are skint. Do not copy their tactics. They sell attention, not results.

4. Best known beats best
You could be the best in your field. But if people don’t know you, they won’t buy from you.

5. Show conviction. Regularly.
Great marketing is just confident repetition of why people should buy from you. Brag humbly. Be clear. Own your wins.

6. Long-form and stories over reels and posts
Spend 80% of your energy on stories and deep content. Case studies. Tutorials. Strategy breakdowns. Show people how you think, how you speak, how you solve.

Your customers come from your stories and your long form. Not your polished feed posts.

7. Run paid ads
Especially to people who already know you. It’s like printing money.
Spend £1K. Make £3K. That’s better than property. Better than crypto. Better than stocks. You know your business better than any other asset.

8. Authenticity means going first
Real authenticity is when people feel safe around you. That happens when you share what you’re scared to say. That’s what builds trust. That’s what builds connection.

If you’re hiding online, you’re playing small. You can’t win like that.

These are just a few insights. But I’ve got a full three-hour segment on this exact topic at Expansion on the 5th of September.

It’s not another hype event. It’s a working room. You’ll leave with:

  • Clarity on what to say and post

  • A plan to attract high paying, wallet-ready clients

  • Tactics to build attention without selling your soul

  • Systems to flood your inbox with real leads

  • New belief and confidence in your voice, message, and worth

If you’re launching something new or just want to grow faster with less friction, this is for you.
