How i ended Sunday Anxiety

Read time — 3 min read

Sunday’s used to drain me.

I would wake up on Sunday morning and the first thought that would run through my head was:

“Fuck I’ve only one more day of rest before everything goes wrong!”

The week ahead always felt heavy. Tough. Hard.

Clients have too much time to overthink. Who is going to cancel on Monday morning?
Team have too much time to think. Am I going to get landed with some A bomb at 8:50am?
I have to train.
I have to mind the kind while Claire goes to the gym.
I have to be present with my family.
I still haven’t hit 100 Million yet.

Underneath it all I felt behind.

This was my reality for years.

I got fed up of feeling like shit every Sunday. I decided I wasn’t going to let the week own me anymore. I put structure in place and learned a few hard truths that changed everything.

  1. Hard is normal. Misaligned is lethal. Always ask why you are building what you are building.

  2. Stop comparing. Most anxiety comes from feeling behind and measuring yourself against someone bigger without knowing the price they have paid to be there.

  3. Overthinking is a trap. It gives the illusion of control but just keeps you stuck replaying the past.

  4. Anything that costs me peace or profit is too expensive. Make the decision and get it done Monday.

  5. Team underperformance. Most anxiety comes from this. If you know that team members are underperforming, book a call and have a structured conversation around their role. Ask them how they are performing in the areas you know they are weak. Then give your take and talk about a clear plan of action for the next 90 days.

  6. Needy clients. Set boundaries. Communicate what you will and will not do. Frame it around a structured conversation about moving forward.

  7. Clients that want to leave. If they want to go, let them. Every time I have let go of something, it has created space for something better.

  8. Content. Creating content creates massive anxiety for so many entrepreneurs. The fix: bulk it on one day, schedule it in advance, and realize most of the content you produce is not bringing ROI to your business. Go and ask your last 10 customers what piece of content made them buy, and double down on that. You will probably find that the content that stresses you out the most is the content your customers do not even look at.

  9. You do not need it all at once. Just dominate what matters most right now. If you are still reading this, pause. Your mind needed this reset.

  10. Regulate before you enter the new week. Your energy is the lens through which you will see every challenge.

And finally this.

No one cares if you are bigger or better than anyone else. Master your own game. Or you’ll end up playing someone else's.

Sunday dread doesn't own me anymore. It doesn't have to own you either.

Own the week or the week will own you.

Hope this serves you and inspires you to let go.

Life’s too short.

Yours in Strength,

Phil Graham
